Stand still for a moment.. for a talk with Earth

The Earth Telephone invites people to take a moment to open themselves for a conversation with Earth. The design of the Earth Telephone explains in a simple way the basic steps of nature communication and collaboration. The two key points are: reciprocity and the use of all your senses. Before asking for something from nature, you offer something first. It’s like the quarter in a pay phone. This can be a song, a poem, a compliment, a prayer.. Then you ‘dial Earth’s number’ by activating your senses. When you’re ready to listen, you pick up the receiver and listen… to one of nature’s languages: the music of the plants, made by an antenna of the Earth: the tree.

The installation was created for a Unesco-event in Paris (see event), early June, 2022. After that it has been exposed at the eco-community of Damanhur, Italy late June. After that at the Earth Charter Day 2022 in The Netherlands and during a year it had its base at the center for the Earth, Het Veerhuis, in Varik, The Netherlands. New Earth Telephone’s are now in the making at territories of people who wish to dedicate a space on their land, to have a conversation with her.

Creating an Earth Telephone is a process of listening within and finding one’s connection with all of nature around us. A dialogue with nature helps us to see ourselves and our lives from a different perspective. It helps us find inspiration and new solutions, to collaborate in innovative ways with the natural world.
